Cooke, Van Orden turn to November rematch in Wisconsin’s 3rd Congressional District

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) — Democrat Rebecca Cooke and Republican U.S. Rep. Derrick Van Orden are turning their attention to November after Cooke won Tuesday’s Democratic primary, setting up a rematch in Wisconsin’s competitive 3rd Congressional District.
Cooke defeated former Eau Claire City Council President Emily Berge to advance to the Nov. 3 general election. It will be the second straight general election matchup between Cooke and Van Orden. Cooke lost by less than 3% in 2024.
Berge closed out her campaign Tuesday night by talking about the effort she put into reaching voters across the district.
"I wanted to meet everyone in the district, and obviously that’s a hard task to do, but I don’t know, I tried really hard, I gave it my all," Berge said.
