Wisconsin congressional primaries set stage for November

Tuesday's election featured primaries in 7 out of 8 Wisconsin congressional districts

With the Aug. 11 primary now complete, the slate of candidates is set for Wisconsin’s U.S. House elections in November.

Here’s a summary of each district’s primary results, and who the winners will face in November.

In the 1st Congressional District in southeast Wisconsin, Mitchell Berman won the Democratic primary. He’ll face Republican U.S. Rep. Bryan Steil of Janesville in November. While Steil has a record of lopsided wins dating back to 2018, the district is considered competitive on paper.

In the heavily Democratic 2nd Congressional District, U.S. Rep. Mark Pocan, a Democrat from the town of Vermont, easily defeated primary challenger Douglas Alexander. With no Republicans running for the district, the primary win means Pocan is headed back to Cong…
