Mequon’s Smith narrowly defeats Bell
MEQUON — It took until late Wednesday, but the Associated Press has declared Mequon's Brad Smith the winner of the Democratic primary for Congressional District 6 Smith won by just 0.6% votes over his Democratic competitor, Amanda Bell of Pardeeville — a margin that allows Bell to request a recount. But she conceded late Wednesday.
“Congratulations to Brad on his win,” she said. “I support him wholeheartedly and look forward to him winning in November.”
The district includes 11 counties containing 240 municipalities. For most of the day Wednesday, those counties were all reporting that 99% of the votes had been counted.
