Democrats Amanda Bell and Brad Smith seek to flip Wisconsin's 6th district
OZAUKEE COUNTY — Seldom has a midterm election been as widely discussed as the primaries and general election races underway across the U.S. Republicans control both houses of Congress, with a six-seat majority over Democrats in the House of Representatives and an eight-seat majority in the Senate.
In the House, 36 Republicans and 23 Democrats are not seeking re-election, and Democrats are hoping to fill enough seats to take over one or both chambers in Congress.
In Wisconsin, many eyes on the Congressional District 6 seat long held by Republican Glenn Grothman of Glenbeulah. Grothman was first elected to the seat in 2014 and is currently serving his sixth term. For Democrats, Grothman’s close alignment with Trump makes his seat an important target for turnover.
Both Amanda Bell of Pardeeville and Brad Smith of Mequon believe they can be the one to prevail. An Aug. 11 primary will decide which one will be the Democrat on the ballot.
