STERLING HEIGHTS, MI -- U.S. Rep. John James R-Shelby Township is the Republican candidate for the Governor of Michigan.
The race was called at 10:24 p.m.
James addressed an audience of around 200 people at Associated Builders and Contractors of Southeast Michigan in Sterling Heights just before 11 p.m.
“The primary is over. Now we come together,” he said, encouraging Michiganders who may feel “politically homeless” to join the campaign and usher in the state’s comeback.
With an estimated 26% of the votes counted, James was leading Johnson 50.1 to 36 percent.
