Rep. Sheri Biggs said Thursday she was disappointed South Carolina's Senate rejected a proposed congressional redistricting map, saying the state should have districts that "reflect our conservative values."
Speaking on Newsmax's "Wake Up America Early," Biggs said she supported redistricting efforts as New York Democrats move to redraw congressional maps ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.
"I supported redistricting and having a map that reflects our conservative values," the South Carolina Republican said." "South Carolina is very red. We're very strong in our beliefs. And I think our map should reflect that."
On Tuesday, as early in-person voting began in South Carolina, the state Senate rejected a Republican plan to cancel those congressional votes and scheduled a new primary.
Biggs called the Senate's failure to advance the proposal "very disappointing."
"I hope we can back up, and regroup, and get this across the line. I think it's important," she said.
Biggs also said she believes South Carolina's congressional delegation should fully reflect the state's Republican leanings.
Biggs also pointed to the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act, commonly known as the SAVE America Act, saying only U.S. citizens should vote in elections.
"We should have only Americans voting in our election, and it should reflect our views and our values," she said.
The discussion came as South Carolina election officials reported record-breaking turnout during the first day of early voting for the June 9 primary election.
According to the South Carolina State Election Commission, more than 56,000 ballots were cast Tuesday, compared with just over 10,000 during the first day of early voting in the 2024 primary cycle.
Biggs said increased participation reflected voters' concerns about the stakes of upcoming elections.
"My husband and I actually went and voted on the first day, and I was happy to see so many individuals turn out," she said. "I think voters are getting involved, and I think they understand what's at risk."
Biggs also addressed President Donald Trump's push for Congress to send a reconciliation bill to his desk by June 1, criticizing Senate Republicans for delays.
"I feel like we have been really getting things across the line and working hard to try to serve our districts," she said of House Republicans.
"But I wish I could say more for the Senate," Biggs added. "It is a little disappointing that we're not working well together, that they seem to be dropping the ball, just to put it frankly."
The congresswoman, who serves on the House Foreign Affairs and Homeland Security Committees and is a lieutenant colonel in the Air National Guard, also discussed the conflict involving Iran.
Biggs praised Trump for his handling of the situation and urged Americans to support U.S. troops.
"I feel like President Trump is doing the right thing. I feel like he has given every opportunity for Iran to make good choices," she said.
"Please support this mission, support our president, and support our men and women in uniform," she added. "And I hope there is an end to this in the very near future."
