Rep. Sheri Biggs, R-S.C., on Newsmax Friday slammed Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., after he recently told CNN that Americans are facing painful economic consequences as a result of the Trump administration's conflict with Iran.

During an appearance on "National Report," Biggs defended the administration's handling of the crisis and said Americans understand the importance of standing strong against Iran despite concerns over rising gas prices and broader economic pressures.

Blumenthal had argued that Iran still "holds cards" in the conflict despite claims from the administration that Tehran has been weakened strategically and economically.

"Iran has a lot of cards, and you're seeing them in real time," Blumenthal said. "Americans are paying much higher prices for gasoline, but not just for fuel, also for food — everything from mattresses to medical devices, everything dependent on petrochemicals and plastics."

Blumenthal also warned the global economy could suffer further fallout and accused the administration of withholding information from lawmakers and the American public about the true costs of the conflict.

Biggs sharply rejected those claims and said Blumenthal's comments ignored the broader stakes involved in confronting Iran and protecting future generations of Americans.

"I just think that shows ignorance," she said. "You know, I don't like high gas prices any more than my neighbors do, but we understand that this is an investment for our protection — for our children and for our grandchildren."

Biggs also accused Democrats of selectively expressing outrage over spending while remaining silent during what she described as years of waste and abuse under the Biden administration.

"And, you know, I find the hypocrisy from the other side of the aisle just really appalling because nobody's been worried about the billions of dollars that have been wasted on fraud and abuse in our country under the previous administration," she said.

Biggs closed by reaffirming her support for President Donald Trump and the U.S. military while emphasizing that protecting American families and bringing troops home safely remain top priorities.

"So, as I said before: I support our military; I support our president; and I just want our members to come home safely," Biggs said. "And I want to make sure that America is put first and that our children are protected."
